5th Anniversary of Mega Deep to Award $500,000

What would you do with $500,000?

Right before the holiday season officially kicks off, that question comes with a whole host of possible answers. Online poker players worldwide will get the chance to cash in this weekend when 888Poker makes that cash prize a reality for one lucky – and skilled – player.

This Sunday, November 27, marks the 5th Anniversary of the popular $215 buy-in Mega Deep tournament hosted by 888Poker. In past years, the guarantee was between $100K and $150K but for the special anniversary, that amount is going up to $500K.

That can buy a lot of gifts – or one heck of a winter getaway.

Some other modifications to the Mega Deep event from previous years include a lowered length of blind levels (down to 20 minutes, from 30) and a second chance re-entry option. Repeat players will still have the 15,000 start stack and access to late registration for 300 minutes.

The Mega Deep is no-limit Hold’em tournament of The Mega series, which normally takes place every Sunday. The Mega describes a series of tournaments at 888 Poker, which includes 5 tournaments with huge prizes.

The $500K prize for the Mega Deep 5th Anniversary celebration from 888Poker is just one of a string of large payouts from recent tournaments. The Super XL Series V that took place in May awarded $3 million in guaranteed price money – and by September’s Super XL Series V tournament, it was up to $4 million. It’s not too late for players to secure a spot at the virtual table.

History of Mega Deep

Since 2012, the Mega Deep tournament has pulled in some pretty major players, like Marcelo Garcia Gonzalez and Felipe Salgado. The weekly tournament draws in players from all over the world, at all skill levels. Satellites for the special anniversary tournament were operating right after the end of the September Super XL – some around the clock — so players have had two months to qualify for the main event on November 27, entering for as little as 1 cent.

The upped guaranteed prize money is sure to attract even more big names, with the absolute biggest online poker player of all time – Chris Moorman – on tap to play. The great part of tournaments like Mega Deep is that it attracts both elite players and amateurs who are still learning the sport.

The Mega Deep poker tournament is a great way to enter the online casino playing field. With a low buy-in and a huge payoff, it’s a smart entry point for players drawn to the allure of big money when they play from home.
